In 1994, Colegio Santa María Marianistas - following its innovative spirit and with the sole purpose of providing the best comprehensive education according to the challenges and demands of modern education-implemented works by modules in the area of physical education, allowing us to overcome the workload limitations of two weekly hours, which did not suffice to achieve the objectives of the department.
In implementing the modules, two teachers were necessarily required to take charge of one class, divided into two equal parts, with the aim of achieving the following:
Customizing education, facilitating the recognition of the student’s capabilities, skills, and abilities, as well as any difficulties he may encounter in his learning, thus having tools to tutor him and help him overcome them.
Overcoming the limitation of hours two hours a week through the teaching of various sports (thirteen in total), managing to teach the fundamentals of technique, tactics, strategy and rules.
Avoiding the unstructured time that becomes necessary when the teacher works with groups of forty (40) students and must divide the class into two groups.
Guiding the students to practice physical activities in their free time to promote their personal development. (Free time = healthy activities)
General methodological innovations in the course of Physical Education:
Through the module of Sports Specialization, students received more information from physical education classes and put into practice a greater number of sports and physical activities such as:
- Track & Field
- Development of Physical Attributes (Strength - Endurance)
